ANTIQUE HAVRE de GRACE, MD BLUEBILL DRAKE DECOY JAMES T HOLLY (1849-1935)

Circa 1890 Havre De Grace, MD. Minor loss of old repaint. From the Collection of Charlie Zeiler. This Antique Harford County Gunning Decoy is in very good structural condition.

He is a hand chopped solid body decoy with a nicely rounded breast. There is no neck shelf and a short rounded upturned tail. This drakes body has great form and offers a rounded bottom with a flat strip to place the rigging with a nicely formed steep upswept tail. He shows some tight checks and shot hits. He is in dry gunning paint.

This drakes contented forward-looking head is in good original condition. It has an elegantly hand carved face and beak separation. His Head is firmly attached and shows a couple of very tight repaired neck cracks.

Tip of beak has been grazed by shot. Original leather tab is worn away. Staple and Poured Lead Weight rigging is Retained. Prior owners brands = Painted Black X and DT carved on decoys bottom. Former Owner's Note In Black Marker on Bottom = "#10 - "James T. This Handsome Fellow is about 14 Inches from Beak to Tail. He is about 5 ½ Inches Wide and he Stands about 7 Inches Tall. He weighs in at just about 2 Pounds 5 Ounces. More Pictures Available - Stand Not Included.
