Antique Hand Carved Wooden Duck Decoy Maine. Primitive Handmade Original and Unique. These decoys were not made for decoration, but to help put food on the table.
The decoys would be set out in the water to attract ducks to land. 5.25" high x 17" long x 4.5 wide.
All Wood with Leather Strap and Lead Weight on bottom. This decoy has been in my family for generations, I remember it being in my grandmother's basement when I was a little girl in Orland Village, and it was old then.It sat on a stone wall near the c istern and spider webs. I come from generations of hunters and my family has lived in Maine since the Mayflower! There were actually 2 decoys this one and one that has a carved cork body and attached wooden carved head.
