Large oversized drake canvasback decoy. 18" from tip of tail to tip of bill; 6 1/2" wide on bottom; body is 5 high. This decoy was used on famous Lake Poygan and Lake Winnebago. It was made by Ken Harrmann from Neenah, WI.
He painted his name on the bottom of the decoy. The decoy still has the original lead weight on the bottom and the thong for tying the decoy to the weight. Harrmann's entire rig of decoys from him about 30 years ago and this has been in my collection since then. I bought the decoys directly from Mr. Harrmann and also bought his duck boat, Lake Poygan shell box and his Model 97 Winchester shotgun.
This is a great looking can, very gracefully done and is structurally in excellent condition. It has one small knot about 1/2 wide on the right side of the body - as seen in the picture. These decoys were repainted by Mr. The paint is in excellent condition.
It was in use repaint by the original maker. It's a great example of a Lake Poygan style canvasback in really good condition. The item "Antique wooden drake canvasback decoy" is in sale since Sunday, May 2, 2021.
