Vintage Canada Goose Decoy 1984 Leonard Hornick Offered by PrimpingYourHome

A handsome Canada Goose decoy, this solid white pine bird was made by Stoney Point Decoys in 1984. Handwritten on the bottom is "Canada Goose" and it's signed and dated by Leonard Hornick, Jr. They founded their company in Oak Hall, Virigina in 1973, advertising in House and Garden, Early American Life and Yankee magazines among others. Their decoys took off, at a time when decorators and homeowners were not using decoys as home and office décor. There is also an embedded, numbered brass tag on the bottom, not often found on Stoney Point Decoys.

Stoney Point Decoys Oak Hall Virginia burned-in company stamp often seen on their decoy bottoms was not used on this decoy. The decoy's head is turned to its right, a nice feature. It's about 1/3 the length of an actual Canada goose, measuring about 13 inches long, 5 1/2 inches tall to top of its head and about 4 inches across the breast.

It weighs 1 pound 3 ounces and is in near-new condition, with very minor wear to the paint and no chips, cracks or other damage.
