VINTAGE CAST IRON WILDFOWLER DUCK DECOY ANDIRONS/FIRE DOGS LIBERTY FOUNDRY 1960s

MARKED LIBERTY FOUNDRY, ST LOUIS, NY. The Wildflower Decoy Company had a gift store and catalog in addition to their manufacturing of Wooden Decoys.

Here is an article that appeared in the Decoy Magazine about the Wildfowler Decoy gift catalog which appeared in the April/May 2001 issue. Wildfowler issued two gift catalogs in 1960; both have blue covers and measure 8 ½ by 5 ½ inches.

Printed on card stock, they offer a wide variety of items. A mahogany woodcock with an ebony bill mounted on a walnut base was featured in one catalog. One of these was to be seen on the desk of President Dwight D. There are thermometers and barometers framed by miniature decoys and guns, as well as walnut duck head paperweights.

Theres also an oversized duck head paperweight cast of aluminum. Bookends, coffee cups, decorative tiles, bottle openers and doorstops were also available. Goldbecks small model boats were featured. Staniford even advertised a limited supply of old decoys scraped down to the bare wood and then hand finished. Wildflower Decoy Company had these Cast Iron Decoy Andirons made by the Liberty Foundry of St.

Almost all of the Original Paint is still intact. These great old Decoy Andirons are Mallards and have realistic form with eye definition. They are in Excellent Condition without any cracks or repairs.

They have been used but remain in great shape for cast iron over 50 years old. Very heavy weighing over 35 pounds.

The Original Paint is excellent condition with only minor areas worn with some bumps and scraps from usage. There is some slight rust on the bottom brackets and on the inside of the back of the ducks. Substantially large measuring 14 inches from front to back, 11 1/4 inches in height, and 14 1/4 inches in width. The individual ducks measure 14 1/4 inches in width and 5 in height.
